Welcome

Welcome to Mr. Lambie's Secondary 4 English blog. This is meant as a space to make assignments, information and general resources available to students in my Sec. 4 and 5 English classes at Richmond Regional High School (RRHS) in Richmond, Quebec.

Secondary 4, Group 2

This is a page for Group-02 of Secondary Four English.

COURSE INTRODUCTION

Welcome:

The basic structure of English Language Arts classes in Quebec focuses on three competencies:
  • Using language/talk to communicate and learn.
  • Reading and listening to written spoken and media texts.
  • Writing and producing texts for personal and social purposes.
Essentially English class is about being able to find information (reading and listening), use that information to form opinions (critical thinking), and be able to express those opinions to others in a variety of different ways (writing, producing and speaking).

You, as students, have experienced a wide range of English classes and have worked on various different concepts and ideas within English Language Arts so far in your schooling. Secondary four will bring in some new ideas and writing forms, but overall it is more of a time for polishing and perfecting the ability you have already been developing to express your ideas and opinions in a constructive way.

Ask questions, participate and make an effort, and success should not be far away.

In my class, a student is allowed to hold any opinion, as long as it holds to two guidelines:
  1. It must not harm or demean any other person inside or outside the classroom.
  2. You must be able to support your opinions by explaining your reasoning.
